About Joe and his Bucket-O-Rust
Who is Joe?
I'm
a retired soldier (98G-Arabic if you know the lingo). I used to be a contractor for the Army, now I work as a mailman. Nights
and weekends are spent in my 600 square foot workshop (built myself) or
searching for old woodworking tools. It's been a hobby
addiction for
about 15 years now, but I'm still wallowing down in the rust. I haven't
found a mint-in-the-box (MIB) plane in over 10 years - and unless I get
out of southern AZ I doubt I'll be breaking that streak anytime soon.
What
is Bucket-O-Rust?
When
I finished building my workshop (when I got enough done to use it -
I've still got a lot of trimming out to do) and started moving in all
the tools I'd had stashed in the shed and in the house I realized that:
I had too many tools.
I had doubles, triples, quadruples.
I had tools I didn't know what they were for.
I had tools I didn't know I'd bought.
but worst of all -
I didn't have room for all the tools.
At
one time I thought I'd put them on Ebay, but by the time I got around
to it Ebay had turned against the little seller and was nothing but a
group of volume sellers all peddling the same junk. And Ebay wants to
charge me once to list the item, again when it sells, and a 3rd time
with the forced Paypal. So it wasn't worth the hassle. Instead I bought
a book, learned how to make a website, made a bunch of mistakes, made
another website, and here you are.
This is the site where I hope to sell some of my vintage
planes, squares, drills, machine tools etc. I don't expect to strike it
rich, but hopefully I'll clean out some of the excess and make enough
money to buy more tools!
Now you know the rest
of the story - go check out my rust. And if you don't find what you're
looking for - check my links because there are a lot of great websites
out there selling tools, talking about tools, or just plain showing off
tools.
Thank you
for visiting!
