I didn't want to list saws until I figured out how
to sharpen them. But I spent a few hours today looking for a saw I knew
I had and couldn't find it in the mess, so its time to clean out a few.
Any info on Disston is gleamed directly from the
Disstonian Institute - the absolute best source of information on Disston saws. Remember
that saws are LONG and the post office and UPS like to charge extra for
LONG stuff. If you want to buy a saw I will have to box it up and take
it to the post office for a quote first, so please be patient...
I've got about 75 sawnuts......
S1:
Cincinatti Tool Company Saw Clamp. An
interesting clamp. The view in the pic is from the top. That hole is
used to screw the clamp to the top of the table with the part below it
hanging over the edge. The saw is inserted and the handle is twisted
down to tighten. It says (left of the hole) Cincinatti Tool Co. (right
of the hole) PAT APP. FOR and (below the hole) HARGRAVE. Some rust on
the back which should clean up quick, marks on top from an errant file
that won't clean up. But you're buying it to use right?
$10.00
S5:Small
Disston Saw The patent date on the handle is AUG 28, 1877.
I think the blade tip has been broken off. I cleaned one side of the
blade and can't make out the maker, but I can read "PHILADA". This and
the patent date works out to Disston.
$12.00
S8:
Cream City Saw
Long (over 25" with an 18" blade) hacksaw marked "Cream City". Wood
handle has some cracks but is still solid. Blade is sharp enough to cut
cream or any other dairy product, but would need sharpened or replaced
if you want to cut
ice or anything harder. $3.00
